SANTOSH

Drama | Short Film | 31 m | 2022

SANTOSH is a project I directed, wrote and edited as a part of my Graduation Project. This project was forged in grief when my grandmother passed away and lost her ability to speak during her last days and my mother could never get the closure from such a loss that she wanted. The short fiction film explores the protagonist, a young woman spending her mother’s last moments together. Both have learned that the mother is about to pass away due to being terminally ill and are having a final conversation about their life. The mother is in immense pain yet is worried for her daughter being distraught. Whereas, the daughter is fearful of losing the only person in her life and is willing to go to any lengths to save her from the clenches of inevitable death. The daughter during these tough times suffers through different stages of grief- DENIAL, ANGER, BARGAINING, DEPRESSION, ACCEPTANCE throughout the 3 acts of the film and develops an understanding towards her mother’s pain and the situation they are in.

UMMEED

Documentary | 13m | 2021

Ummeed is a documentary project that I developed in December of 2021, the project revolves around a small village on the borders of Faridabad and Delhi in the interiors of the Aravali mountain range in Haryana. The village had existed for somewhere in between of 50-80 years, however as of August 2021 amid the chaos of COVID-19 this village descended deeper into pit of chaos when the authorities claimed the village exists legally on forest grounds and has to be demolished in order to preserve the flora and fauna of the forest. This project is a deeper insight into the adversity the villagers now face.
